NYT Crosswords

Introduction

One of my biggest hobbies is doing New York Times crossword puzzles. I have done literally hundreds of them with my mom. My favorite days of the week for them are Thursdays and Fridays, as who does not love a good Thursday rebus and Friday is just about the perfect difficulty for my mom and I when we put our heads together.

In addition to doing crosswords, I went ahead and wrote one with my mom as well. It's a little embarassing, as I've learned a ton since we wrote it back in June 2022 (give or take a few months), and I'm sure we could make a much better one if we tried again now, but I'm still proud we actually got one done! It took a surprising amount of time. We submitted it to the New York Times, but we unfortunately received no response. It's about a Wednesday in terms of difficulty, I'd say, but it has a rebus. That contradiction may be a reason why it wasn't picked. Oops! Still, it was a blast to make. To build it, we followed this crossword construction tutorial series. In terms of actual construction, we used CrossFire, the industry-standard crossword-creation desktop app. Additionally, we made use of other online crossword construction helper tools and databases such as xwordinfo, OneLook, Wordplays, and the Matt Ginsberg Clue Index. Alright, enough chit-chat, check out my puzzle below!
