STJ

STJ Example

Disclaimer: As with a few of my other things on my website, I wrote this around 2019 or so. Looking back on the project now, in 2024, I can see some of my mental health struggles leaked into it. Regardless, I'm going to keep it up as a bit of a remnant of the past. Just, read with caution and a little bit of tenderness, I guess. Sure, it's kind of cringeworthy but I don't know, my past is my past and I'm not going to pretend as if it didn't happen.

About the project:

STJ stands for "Sadness Trance Journal". Sometimes when you're sad, be it a breakup, a job loss, bad grades, etc., it helps to just take a minute to feel sad and think about your worries before moving on. When I felt like this once, instead of doing my homework, I decided to take the morning and code this up.

The program pulls up a sad/nostalgic image (from an internal library, modify if you'd like) and a trance-y song (again from an internal library, modify if you'd like) to accompany it. You can type in whatever you'd like to get off your mind and then press enter to clear the screen. Hitting "tab" will swap to a new photo and a new song. This is a pretty weird project but I decided to include it anyway LOL.

You can find all the code here.
